There are different ways you can ensure you are tanning SMART when you are outside or indoors. Here are 10 tips to help ensure you’re tan SMART:
1 ) Practice Moderate UV exposure – do not overexpose
2 ) Expose your skin to UV light slowly and build your time gradually – there’s no rush!
3 ) ALWAYS use 100% UV blocking eye protection and always have your own personal eyewear
4 ) ALWAYS protect your skin with tanning products indoors & sunscreens outdoors
5 ) Do not expose your skin to UV light more than one time within a 48 hour period – that includes tanning outside than tanning inside (or vice versa)
6 ) Know your skin type and follow the recommended tanning times for your skin type to find your skin type go to knowyourskintype.com and fill out the Tan FX skin typing form at your first visit.
7 ) Build a base tan before trips or before the summer to prepare your skin for the increased exposure to UV light
8 ) Avoid high UVB index during the summer months (or on vacation). If you have to be outside, wear a hat and long sleeves if possible during peak UV hours.
9 ) Take a minimum of 24-48 hours off between your tanning sessions (no matter how long your session)
10 ) NEVER burn…it’s the number one rule of smart tanning.
